Internet Solutions has upgraded its ftp site, ftp.is.co.za , to 8Tb of storage space and replaced the old platform.

“This has allowed us to take on new shareware mirrors and provide a better service to the South African community,” says Anthony Southgate, marketing executive at IS. “Slow transfer rates are now a thing of the past."
Users will find Linux distributions, including Suse, OpenSuSE,  Redhat, Fedora, Mandriva, Ubuntu and Debian, on the site.
In addition, the BSD-based distribution, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and NetBSD are running.
Other mirros include Apache, CPAN and ISC with new software being added as it becomes relevant.
“Monthly downloads average in excess of 1,4T, of data, of which more than 1Tb was to South African users," says Southgate.
"Our role here is to add value to the South African community by providing a local ftp service that rivals those seen internationally and providing fast, cost effective downloads."
