Sun Microsystems and Intel are expected to announce an agreement later today whereby Sun would introduce Intel chips into its products.

Currently, Sun uses its own SPARC chips as well as AMD chips on some product lines.
Now, speculation is rife that it could introduce Intel products on to server, telecommunications and workstation products.
The two companies stopped working together some years ago when they disagreed on the direction the then-fledgling Itanium processor should take.
The first products under the expected deal are expected to debut in mid-2008.
