Acer South Africa has launched the Acer XD1150 to the local market to meet the demand for a portable entry-level projector that produces vivid images for home entertainment, classroom and SMB applications.
The new projector forms part of Acer's Value line, which offers a selection of efficient and stylish, yet affordable projectors for entry-level users.

The Acer XD1150 is able to display movies, games, presentations and larger-than-life size images, thanks to its optimal five-segment colour wheel, 1800 ANSI Lumens brightness and 2200:1 contrast ratio. The unit is compact enough to allow users to take it with them wherever they might need access to big-screen visuals.
John Geypen, product manager at Acer South Africa, says: "The Acer XD1150 offers efficient performance, crisp visuals, style, and stability in a projector that is surprisingly affordable for entry-level users. This compact and aesthetically pleasing projector suites the small office as well as the lounge or the classroom."
Like all models in the Value Line, the Acer XD1150 is based on the latest DLP chipset technology to display smooth and realistic images that bring presentations and entertainment to life. The native SVGA (800 x 600) resolution delivers attractive PowerPoint presentations and powerful television, DVD and gaming images.
A five-segment colour wheel with a yellow filter outperforms the red/green/blue/white wheels of the past by stripping away the green tint that is present in the yellows produced by many earlier projectors.
The projector accepts a wide range of input types including NTSC, PAL, SECAM, HDTV, EDTV and SDTV, as well as connections from a variety of notebooks, PCs and other multimedia sources. The projector also detects input signals as soon as one of these sources is connected to it, eliminating time spent scanning for signals.
The Acer XD1150 projector includes an automatic shut down option if it does not receive input for a certain amount of time which can be easily adjusted by the end-user and features pin code security to reduce the threat of theft and enable parents to control the usage of the device by their children.
A universal ceiling mount allows users to position the projector for convenient, out-of-the-way viewing, while the bevelled edges, smooth contours and neutral colours ensures that it looks good in any environment. The low noise level (31dBA) guarantees that the projector won't drown out the user's entertainment or presentation.
The Acer XD1150 also features Acer's Empowering Technology, allowing end-users to easily select a start-up picture for the projector, set timed alarms to remind them when their presentation time is over, and to set the optimal display mode depending on content type.
A complete package for the entry-level user, the Acer XD1150 comes at a recommended retail price of R 5,999.95 including VAT.
