A new industry body aimed at giving the IT channel international representation was launched at this year's Distree conference in Monte Carlo.

The International Technology Channels Association (ITCA) is a non-profit organisation with the primary purpose of offering the ICT trade an international communication platform. Founder members include the ASCII Group, Synaxon and the UK's Professional Computing Association.
"Vendors, media and service providers are already operating internationally," says founding president of the ITCA, Frank Garrelts. "It is now time to create an international platform for the whole of the ICT industry, a central forum and clearing house for ideas and co-operation.
"The founder members, themselves large national organisations, represent  nearly 6 000 resellers in 67 countries.
"Although recognising the needs of hundreds of thousands of solution providers worldwide ITCA will not be a trade purchasing cartel – we set great value that this organisation is seen as a neutral forum for knowledge exchange and the initiation of international merchandising activities."
There are three types of membership available: Basic membership is free, with Premium and Platinum members paying for an extended range of services. All members will receive a regular newsletter covering diverse issues including legislation and technological developments.
