Apple and Cisco have agreed to extend the time for Apple to respond to the Cisco lawsuit. 


According to a joint statement, the delay to allow for discussions between the companies with the aim of reaching agreement on trademark rights and interoperability.
Up until the day before Apple chairman Steve Jobs announced Apple's iPhone at the MacWorld conference, Apple and Cisco had been in discussions about the name of the product – which is owned by Cisco.
The talks apparently broke down, Jobs went ahead with the iPhone announcement anyway, and Cisco filed suit against Apple for copyright infringment.
