IT companies should scrupulously check any orders they receive from the national labour department following revelations that a Free State syndicate is using fake letterheads to buy computer equipment.

According to News24, a spokesperson for the department, Zolisa Sigabi said that 60 laptop computers and 300 hard drives were ordered by one Jonathan Banda who claims to be a labour official with the department.
Jonathan Banda is, as far as can be determined, one of the names that the syndicate is using in its scam.
Sigabi says that any businesses receiving orders on the letterheads should double-check with the department before fulfilling them.
She says that five similar orders had already been presented to various IT companies.
