Xerox, distributed to 24 sub-Saharan countries by Bytes Document Solutions, has launched its fastest desktop multifunction device to date, targeting small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) with a device capable of 45 pages per minute (ppm) print speeds and simultaneously job processing for increased productivity.

The device is available from local Bytes Document Solutions distributors Rectron and Square One.
The black-and-white multifunction device (MFD) is available in flexible configurations, from a basic copy-only version to an advanced version that prints, copies, scans, e-mail and faxes. It offers automatic two-sided printing on all configurations, making it less costly than competitive products that offer this feature.  Scanning can be done in colour.
"SMBs continue to be one of the fastest growing segments in the market today," says Keith Kmetz, programme director for IDC's Hardcopy Peripherals Solutions and Services division. "The Xerox WorkCentre 4150 is designed and sold first as a printer, but it also offers copying, scanning and faxing to help people work better. With its continued product additions and focus on moving these products through channels targeted to reach the SMB market, Xerox is positioned to capture growth from new and existing customers."
The WorkCentre 4150's multitasking abilities enable users to print, copy, scan and fax simultaneously. It includes features such as Print Queue Management and Automatic Print Around, which lets users move important jobs to the front of the queue and eliminate traffic jams by immediately bypassing queued jobs that need special types or sizes of paper.
The device also offers network authentication, a feature that provides an added level of security for businesses by requiring user names and passwords to access the device's scan, e-mail and fax features. Additional capabilities include ID Card Copy, which can copy both sides of a driver's licence or ID card onto one page. Step-by-step network installation and a simple touch-screen interface make it easy for offices to set up and maintain the device with or without dedicated IT support.
"Joining a family of Xerox colour and black-and-white printers, and MFDs currently offered, the WorkCentre 4150 has a channel-friendly and customer-friendly design that makes it easy to ship, install and maintain either as a desktop or small workgroup device," says Ernest Leong, Xerox product manager for Office Printer Portfolio at Bytes Document Solutions.
"Together with business tools such as CentreWare Internet Services, CentreWare Web and Xerox Standard Accounting, Xerox is extending its expertise in device and cost management to meet the needs of SMBs, especially those served by channel partners."
