Workgroup, has announced the appointment of Ewald Meyer, who will fill the role of product manager on the recently secured EMC distribution at the company.

Meyer's responsibilities will include developing an EMC channel strategy for South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa while managing the EMC product range within Workgroup's Storage and Security division.

Meyer's experience within the storage arena is extensive as this arena has been his main focus for going on seven years. Having worked at Storgate Africa, DataStor and Asbis Africa, with a work history that includes the formation and maintenance of the latter's first targeted storage division; he has set the bar high in his ambition for the EMC division.

"The intention is to create a 'one stop' scenario for the EMC channel, which will assist in building sustainable business with enough critical mass to effectively capture the market," says Meyer.

"The aim is to grow EMC's market share in the commercial space with all the recently acquired EMC products, including their Enterprise Software and Insignia products, as well as any forthcoming additions."

Meyer says that this is only possible due to Workgroup's reach on a national level and adds that, as historically the majority of EMC business has been transacted using Tier 1 partners, Workgroup aims to actively target Tier 2 and 3 level partners using its extensive base of resellers based in Gauteng, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Angola, Zambia and Kenya.
