The 3GSM World Congress, being held this week in Barcelona, is not the place people would expect to find representatives from the Sundance Film Festival – but they're there, showing six independently-commissioned made-for-mobile films.

This is just an indication of serious the mobile industry is about re-inventing itself as a mobile entertainment business, especially with ongoing developments in mobile TV.
According to GSM>3G Newsreel, as the mobile phone morphs into a device that can capture both TV and internet content, huge interest is being generated in the user generated content and social networking space.
Mobile TV has been on the drawing board for some time, but visitors to the Congress this year will be looking for operational trials and full-blown content.
