Printacom, sole-importer and brand representative for OKI Printing Solutions in South Africa has launched new printing solutions from OKI, which promise to add increased reliability, cost efficiency and performance to their customers' print fleets.

The launch, dubbed "OKI…Look what you can do", is aimed at demonstrating how customers can get the best out of bringing short-run printing in-house using OKI printing solutions. Similar events will also be hosted in Cape Town and Durban during February.
The company's MD, Neil Rom says OKI's new entrants comprise entry-level dot-matrix printers, high-end line printers, new mono multifunction units and an ultra-affordable A3 colour laser printer.
"Starting off with the impact printer space," Rom says, "OKI has gone after the extremely cost conscious sector of the market with its new ML1120 and ML1190 printers.
"Both units are affordable, compact and offer high performance printing, whilst being quiet and economical to run. They're perfectly suited to printing receipts, reports, letters and correspondence in the administration-centric disciplines and ideal for retail stores and back office applications. Their small footprint and recessed interfaces also makes them an excellent printing solution for businesses where space is at a premium," he says.
"Next up in the impact segment," Rom continues, "our introduction of the MX series of line printers hails OKI's entry into the high-end of the impact printing sector, rounding out our entire impact printing portfolio.
The OKI MX range gives customers options that offer a performance level of between 500 and 2000 lines per minute, between 30-million and 50-million characters per ribbon (depending on the consumable used) and a 100% duty cycle.
"This range is designed to run 24/7/365," Rom adds. "These printers are designed to cope perfectly in the most demanding of conditions – they can handle whatever customers throw at them."
Moving on to the multifunction printer space, Rom says the success of OKI's colour MFPs has led the company to bring an ultra-affordable range of monochrome laser multifunction units to market.
"The B2500 series is ideal for businesses that are small on space and budget, but big on professionalism.
"In delivering cost-effective mono printing, copying, colour scanning and faxing from the one device, the B2500 Series not only helps users work easier, faster and smarter, but takes up the smallest space on the desktop," he explains.
"The B2500 Series is also no slouch in the performance and features department, delivering A4 mono print and copy speeds at an impressive 16ppm without interruption, the ability to scan to or print from a USB flash memory device; and even take advantage of wireless printing functionality with the addition of a wireless printing module from OKI accessories."
While the launch of these new product lines are undoubtedly great news for resellers and their customers, Rom says the real showstopper announcement comes in the form of OKI's most cost effective A3 colour laser ever.
"Promising to knock the socks off of every competitor we have in this space, the OKI C8600 is 50% smaller in terms of footprint and at least 50% more printer than anyone else can offer at its price point," Rom states confidently.
"It carries a recommended retail price of R18 999.00 excl vat, which is close to 40% lower than other A3 colour laser printers it competes with. At 26ppm in colour, 32ppm in mono and less than a 10 second wait until the first printed page is complete, it is difficult to find a competitor for the C8600," Rom says.
Rounding out Printacom's announcements, Rom says that Cape Town and Durban resellers will also gain an opportunity to take a closer look at OKI's range of custom papers and consumables, enabling them to 'do more with their OKI'.
"From printing banners, business cards, compliment slips and other interesting template stock, these consumables will allow customers to in-source more and more of their short run printing.
"The combination of these paper stocks and our new printers are sure to deliver massive value to resellers and their customers over the coming year. We're predicting another rise in market share and a much stronger awareness for the OKI brand in 2007," he concludes.
