Microsoft has released a list of software applications that are certified to run on Vista.
Although more than 800 applications have made it on to the list – 108 as "Certified for Windows Vista" and 683 as "Works with Windows Vista" – there are a number of notable names missing.
Among the applications not on the list are many that currently run on Windows XP, but most of these will run on Vista using development tools from Microsoft.
Also missing are applications from Adobe and Symantec, as well as Firefox, Skype and OpenOffice.
Applications that appear not to have made the transition to Vista include graphics-intensive games, many of which are not optimised for DirectX 10, intorduced for Vista.
