Women in IT, a bursary and mentorship programme that aims to create insight, opportunity, growth and development for women within the information technology sector, will be hosting a golf day on 09 March 2007 at Bryanston Country Club in Bryanston.

This is an initiative for the bursary and mentorship programmes within Women in IT.

“We are proud to be hosting such an event as it will provide an excellent opportunity for men and women in the industry to network in an informal setting and get to know one another on a more personal basis and across all levels of management also we are excited about Arnold Geerdts who will be MC-ing the event a well known voice over artist, guest speaker and a sports commentator,” comments Heather Third, business & marketing officer at Microsoft South Africa and spokesperson for the WIIT.

This programme helps empower women in the IT industry and provides mentorship within the sector.

“We understand the challenges faced by women in the IT industry and therefore provide mentorship to our members in order to overcome those challenges and increase the presence of women in key decision making positions within the IT industry,” says Third.

WIIT started on 1 September 2005 with just 100 members and has grown to over eight hundred and eighty members.

“Women in IT has enjoyed an almost exponential growth rate since its conception, something which we hope will continue in the future. The fact that our membership has increased nearly nine-fold in the two short years since we began says a lot about our organisation and goes to show that there is a vast need out there for mentorship and belonging.” says Third.
