Following its success as a top seller of digital colour copier/printers in South Africa since 2001, Konica Minolta South Africa entered the production print market with its first devices, the bizhub PRO 1050 and bizhub PRO C500, in 2005.

To further augment its range, the business technology company has introduced the Konica Minolta bizhub PRO C6500, a compact and affordable 65 page per minute (ppm) multifunctional digital colour press.

KMSA colour division product manager, Marianna Gdanis, says the bizhub PRO C6500 is an enhanced version of bizhub PRO C500. “We will be offering several configurations of the bizhub PRO C6500, offering customers anything from an entry-level version to a high-end production system.”

With a maximum paper capacity of 7 500 sheets and a target average volume of 200,000 pages per month, the bizhub PRO C6500 has multiple paper settings allowing for 64 to 300gsm paper weight and up to A3+ paper sizes (330mm x 487mm).

newly developed “air-blast” feature on external paper feeders and an ultrasonic multi-feed detection sensor ensures that even coated sheets of paper do not stick together and prevents the feeding of multiple sheets at once.

The system comes with Konica Minolta’s new generation polymerised toner, Simitri HD, which was created specifically for the production printing market and delivers high image quality with excellent colour reproduction. Simitri HD’s new energy saving fusing process dramatically improves printing to many types of paper, and the small particle size achieves smoother tone reproduction form low to high density. In this field of technology, Konica Minolta has carried out more patents than any other manufacturer since 1991.

Multiple finishing options include a saddle-stitch booklet maker for up to 200-page trimmed booklets, a multi-folding unit with post-inserter and hole punch, a 100-page document stapler and a 5 000 sheet stacker unit for increased productivity – the different configurations are designed to specifically suit different applications.
