USA Today reports that "the high-flying AMD of 2006 has given way to a company in financial peril, saddled with debt and bleeding from a brutal price battle" and is the subject of rumours of a possible takeover or private equity cash infusion.
It adds that Wall Street has been particularly harsh on AMD with its share price falling more than 60%, or $10-billion in shareholder wealth, in the last year.
