Telkom's chief technology officer (CTO), Thami Msimango, has resigned saying he wants to pursue other career opportunities in the IT industry.

Msimang joined Telkom in 1984 and held various positions including managing executive of technology and network services before being appointed CTO in 2005.
Telkom chief executive, Papi Molotsane paid tribute to Msimang, saying he  made an enormous contribution to the company's evolution in recent years and was instrumental in driving Telkom's roll-out of a next-generation network (NGN).
"The progress we have made in building the broadband and internet protocol (IP) capacity of the access and core networks, and the fact that many of Telkom's new services are running on the NGN network, is because of Thami's commitment," says Molotsane.
