Acer has said that it expects sales of its notebooks for the first quarter of 2007 to rise between 30% and 40% over the corresponding quarter last year. 

"The company is operating efficiently and effectively to boost sales in its major markets including Europe, the US and greater China," and Acer spokesman says. "A 30% to 40% increase in the first quarter from a year earlier has been anticipated."
In the first quarter of 2006, Acer sold 2.85-million notebooks out of a total of 9.9-million for the year, 50% of which were sold in Europe, 15% in the US and 10% in China.
The company lays the success of its notebook growth down to an aggressive and successful global marketing strategy.
"We are trying hard to market Acer branded notebook computers, in particular to push up the weightings in the US and greater China markets," the spokesman says.
