Foster-Melliar is making strides in computer-based training (CBT), providing a more convenient way to study for the ITIL Foundation and Prince 2 qualification at a time and pace convenient to each student.
“Foster-Melliar has embarked on a partnership with the ILX Group plc that enables us to offer interactive multimedia computer-based training (CBT) of the highest standard to our learners,” says Ian Butow, General Manager: Business Development at Foster-Melliar. “As a direct result of the partnership, Foster-Melliar is now able to offer CBT training courses for ITIL Foundation and Prince 2 (Projects in Controlled Environments) which is a first for South Africa.
“The CBT course material incorporates animation, interactivity with dual voice tutorials and a multiple choice simulated examination, effectively making it the most comprehensive distance learning course of its kind available on the market today,” Butow adds.
“The ILX ITIL Foundation course consists of seven topics and requires no formal entry requirements for the ITIL training course or the ITIL examination, assuming all delegates have a basic level of IT literacy or experience in a service support or service delivery role. This training course, seamlessly combined with teaching and technology, creates a ‘blended learning’ environment that gives attendees the best of both worlds.
“Prince 2 is a structured method providing for effective project management through best practice principles. It is a de facto standard used extensively by the UK Government and is widely recognised and used in the private sector, both in the UK and internationally. The concept of Prince 2 is more than just providing staff with training it is about embedding project management best practice into the working culture and achieving organisational benefits through improved project governance."
