Samsung will launch a 1.8-inch 64Gb solid state drive (SSD) flash drive in the second quarter of this year.

The Koran electonics giant says the SSD is based on an 8Gb single-level-cell NAND, providing users with significantly higher performance over conventional SSDs. By using this technology, it says, read and write performance is boosted by 20% and 60% respectively over its 32Gb models.
It will also hastens the demise of the traditional spinning disk drive, Samsung adds.
