Former First Technology GM, Tony Galvao has officially been appointed as managing director designate of what is left of Storgate once certain of its divisions are stripped out to merge with the new Ingram Micro SA on 1 June.

It is rumoured that Storgate will be renamed after the restructuring.
MB Technologies chief Leo Baxter confirmed Galvao's appointment to staff on Wednesday, saying it came after an "exhaustive search".
"As you all know, from 1st June, 2007, the current Storgate business will become two separate entities – the component side going to the new joint venture, Ingram Micro South Africa (IMSA) while the value-add side will be boosted by the addition of further strategic products to position a rebranded Storgate as a strong value-add distributor," Baxter says in a memo.
"Tony brings enormous experience in technical, sales and general management roles in both PC and networking environments," Baxter adds. "This experience will prove invaluable to us in building the new Storgate entity."
No mention is made of Storgate's present MD, Mark Campbell, but he is believed to be in the running – along with others – for the top job at Ingram Micro SA.
