The MTN Group has secured permission from families to announce the names of the staff members involved in Friday's Kenya Airways crash in Cameroon.

According to a company statement: "We can confirm that the staff members who were on the flight were MTN Cameroon CEO, Mr Campbell Utton; MTN Cameroon CFO, Mrs Sarah Stewart and her husband, Mr Adam James Stewart; MTN Cameroon Company Secretary, Mr Patrick Njamfa; and MTN Cameroon Network Engineer, Mr Patrice Enam.
"The MTN staff members were traveling to South Africa on MTN business."
Says MTN Group President and CEO, Mr Phuthuma Nhleko: “On behalf of the MTN Group Board of Directors, the executive and MTN staff across our 21 operations, I wish to offer our support and encouragement to the families of our colleagues and those of the other passengers and crew during this difficult time. Our prayers go out to them.”
Nhleko says MTN is in constant contact with Kenya Airways, the Department of Foreign Affairs in South Africa and other relevant authorities.
“To support the rescue operation in Cameroon, MTN has provided communication equipment and transport facilities to the different rescue teams. Through one of our partners, we have also secured a fully equipped air ambulance that will assist with emergency evacuation.”
MTN is awaiting further information from Kenya Airways and the crisis centre in Cameroon. An updated statement will be issued as soon as more information becomes available from Cameroon.
