A teenager charged with murder and attempted murder after an argument over a Playstation console has pleaded not guilty in the Fresno County Superior Court, saying he acted in self-defence.

Nineteen-year-old college student Jonquel Brooks allegedly pulled out a gun and opened fire on three acquaintances last week, killing one and wounding the other two after they had argued over the Playstation. He then fled the scene, triggering a 12-hour manhunt by local police and federal authorities, before he turned himself in.
Brooks is being held in county jail in lieu of $5.75-million bail. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted.
