Avaya could be selling all or part of the company, although company officials are neither confirming or denying rumours published on Monday in the Wall Stree Journal.
According to the newspaper, the telecommunications manufacturer is negotiating with private equity and strategic bidders who are interested in the $6-billion company's cash flow and low debt. It claims that Cisco and Nortel are interested as well.
The Wall Street Journal believes that Avaya is discussing a leveraged buyout plan with the private equity firm Silver Lake and was also talking to Nortel earlier.
The paper cites a source as saying that Cisco could be interested in buying the whole company.
