China is thought to be adding cyberwarfare weaponry to its army resources, with malware designed to bring down computer systems in a first-strike strategy.

This is according to the US Defense, which has released a report that the People's Liberation Army has established information warfare units dedicated to developing viruses to attack systems and networks.
This won't be the first time viruses have been used in a typical warfare situation. The first virus ever identified and reported was an attempt to bring down Israeli computers in the 1980s.
The technology is a lot more sophisticated today, and the Chinese army is believed to be simultaneously developing technology to protect "friendly" computers.
