Virtualisation is here to stay, and Intel is securing its place in this market with a $218,5-million in VMWare, the EMC company that will soon go public.
The investment will give Intel about 2,5% of the company's shares after its listing, as well as a place on the board of directors.
The two companies will continue to work together to develop and market products, and the investment is meant to help increase the adoption of VMWare's software on Intel-based computers.
Virtualisation allows companies to run multiple operating systems on a single computer. It also allows them to view various assets as a single entity.
