Apple has reported a prthird-quarter profit increase of 73%, with revenue surging 24%, mostly on better Mac and iPod sales. The company says it has sold 270 000 iPhones so far.
Apple sold a record 1,8 million-Macintosh computers during the quarter, 33% more than in the same period last year.
The revenue this brought in was $2,53-billion, 36% more than the previous year.
Its desktop business was also up 20% from last year, with Apple selling 634 000 units during the quarter.
iPod volumes were up 21%, but revenue from the music players only increased by 5%.
Apple says it sold 270 000 iPhones during the first two days it was available, and expects to hit the 1-million mark sometime during this quarter.
