New battery is paper-light, flexible

Scientists may have overcome the problem of increasing miniaturisation of computers and consumer electronics devices with the invention of a lighweight paper-like battery.

Although it produces the same amount of power as a tradition lithium-ion battery, and using the same technology to do so, all the relevant components are actually part of a piece of paper.
The paper can be rolled, bent or folded.
The prototype produces 2,5 volts and can easily be scaled up by simply placing as many sheets as are needed on top of one another.
The device was described in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
