Tri-mode, dualband adapter available

Pinnacle Micro has announced the availability of the AirPremier AG DWL-AG660 – a wireless cardbus adapter that enhances wireless networking within the enterprise.

The tri-mode, dualband adapter offers laptop PC users a versatile way to wireless connect to any one of the three available wireless networks, namely 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11a, which operate in two discrete, non-interfering frequency bands: 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
“This means that whether users are based at the office, school, at home or near a public hotspot, users have the confidence in knowing that they can safely access any available wireless network easily,” says Tiens Lange, D-Link brand manager at Pinnacle Micro.
IT or network administrators who choose to implement the DWL-AG660 across the organisation will be better able to provide wireless access for roaming employees at any time.
The unit is backwards compatible with all existing 802.11b-compliant devices and now, using 802.11g, the AG660 can transfer data with a maximum wireless signal rate of up to 108Mbps.
With the enhancement of D-Link 108AG mode, the AG660 can transfer data with a maximum wireless signal rate of up to 108Mbps in a pure D-Link 108AG environment through the use of new wireless technology such as Packet Bursting, FastFrame, Compression and Encryption, and Turbo Mode. This provides a bandwidth large enough to handle video/audio streaming and Video on Demand applications.
“WiFi Protected Access (WPA) and 802.1x user authentication are both integrated into the DWL-AG660 chipset to offer enhanced security so employees can communicate with colleagues confidentially or access sensitive data,” says Lange.
