The pirated DVD of any popular movie is usually available around the day of that products' official release. Now, the first pirated copy of The Simpsons Movie to make it on to the Internet debuted before it opened in the US.

The movie was recorded by an Australian man, using his cell phone, at a Sydney cinema on 26 July – hours before its release in the rest of the world.
The movie was uploaded to a video-sharing site on the Internet before its opening in the US on 27 July.
An investigation by Twentieth Century Fox, Australian police and the Australian Federation against Copyright Theft (Afact) led to a 21-year-old Sydney man being arrested and charged.
