Dogs have been trained to sniff out drugs, so why not other contraband? Like illegal DVDs, for instance …

Two labradors have been trained to do just that and yesterday they completed a six-month stint in Malaysis demonstrating their skill – by sniffing our 1,6-million illegal DVDs and leading to the arrest of 26 people.
The two dogs, on loan to Malaysia by the US-based Motion Picture Association, have been trained to identify the chemicals used in manufacturing optical disks.
While they can't actually smell if they're legal or pirated – their handlers have to take over once they've found any hidden DVDs.
In fact, the dogs have proved so good at their jobs that movie pirates are said to have put a price on their heads.
