New data transfer protocols could make copying movies and other large, multimedia files almost instantaneous.

Researchers at Georgia Tech have shown that very high radio frequencies can be used to transport big files over short distances
The distance would ideally be 10m or less, making the transfers secure as well.
Meanwhile another technoloyg, ultra-wideband, also holds the potential to transfer big files quickly.
Toshiba has already launched UWB laptops that use the protocol to link up with docking stations.
