The largest cellular operator in Israel has selected Nokia Siemens Networks as a partner to develop its Next Generation Network. The partnership brings together Cellcom Israel’s innovative capacity with Nokia Siemens Networks expertise and state-of-the-art solutions.

The new system will allow Cellcom Israel to offer its subscribers a fixed-mobile convergence experience where they can enjoy the same innovative services with either fixed or mobile access.
Cellcom Israel, the biggest Israeli mobile phone operator with more than 2.9 million subscribers, has recently acquired licenses for managing voice and data on a fixed line. Following a rigorous and extensive review of offers, Cellcom Israel has chosen the solution from Nokia Siemens Networks due to the high-quality of its products and services as well as a solid experience in NGN solutions worldwide.
A core and broadband access network will be delivered to the Israeli partner. The deal marks the first fixed network project for Nokia Siemens Networks in Israel.
The chosen solution is based on the world leading SURPASS softswitch and hiX5625 Multi Service Access Nodes. For end-users, this translates into a seamless user experience across various access networks as their usage of services evolves.
"The partnership with Nokia Siemens Networks underlines Cellcom's strategy to extend its business into fixed line services in Israel. The solutions provided by Nokia Siemens Networks offer high quality infrastructural guarantees essential to the development of Cellcom’s fixed network as the company needs to offer its customers such technological solutions, which will help meet growing demand for voice and data traffic." stated Lipa Ogman, CTO Cellcom Israel.
Nokia Siemens Networks will demonstrate in practice its entire capability in the development of Next Generation Networks in Israel.
“We care a lot about this partnership”, stated Roberto Loiola, Nokia Siemens Networks head of the Subregion South East Europe. “Apart from the natural pride of being chosen by the largest cellular operator in a market well known for its care about technology excellence, we are very happy to extend our partnership with Cellcom Israel also to the mobile – fixed convergence.”
Cellcom Israel, which had previously acquired solutions from Nokia Siemens Networks for its mobile networks, decided to extend this cooperation also to the fixed network. The solutions chosen, are the most developed in the market and Nokia Siemens Networks, has a long successful track in leading its customers through a smooth and cost-efficient fixed and mobile network convergence evolution, including a cost-effective migration to an all-IP network.
