Sentech has been given an additional R500-million to roll out its national wireless broadband infrastructure.

Minster of Finance Trevor Manuel made the announcement yesterday, presenting the Special Adjustments Appropriation Bill to Parliament.
The additional funds are to assist with key government projects during the current financial year.
The appropriation of R500-million will be transferred to Sentech and will be used to contribute to the capital requirements associated with establishing a broadband wireless telecommunications network.
As well as the Department of Communications' Sentech, other beneficiaries of the allocation were the Departments of Public Enterprises, Agriculture, and Sport & Recreation.
