Acer South Africa has funded the establishment of two computer laboratories, in Orlando West and Dube, each housing two servers and 60 desktops. They represent an investment of R250 000.00.

The two labs, run by Ekasi IT Solutions, are expected to develop into sustainable businesses that support Acer's drive to nurture computer skills and entrepreneurship in South Africa.
Muzikayise Nkosi, managing member of Ekasi IT Solutions, comments: "These computer labs will benefit the community at large by giving them access to ICT services and training, thereby helping them to develop the key technology skills that are essential for survival in this digital age. These labs will also help primary and high school students in the surrounding areas to perfect their computer skills as well as give them access to a wealth of online information."
Bongani Gumbo, product manager at Acer South Africa, adds: "Projects such as these allow us to apply our skills and technology to improve the lives of historically disadvantaged South Africans, and clearly illustrates Acer's commitment to empowering people through technology.
"We believe that these labs will not only benefit the Orlando and Dube communities, but will ultimately benefit our business as well by, creating a more sustainable and prosperous business environment."
