For the fifth consecutive year, Microsoft South Africa has been adjudged the best company to work for in the IT sector in Deloittes' annual Best Companies to Work For awards.
The company was also ranked ninth in the Top 10 Small Companies category and 13th in the overall Top 20 Best Companies to Work For.
While pleased to have won the IT category, Microsoft SA MD, Pfungwa Serima, expressed disappointment at the company's overall standings.
"Although we’re extremely disappointed at our ranking in this year’s ‘Deloitte’s Best Company To Work For’ survey, we believe that the advantage of participating in such a survey is that it gives organisations like ourselves an opportunity to build on the feedback and to take our people ready approach to the next level, empowering and growing our people to achieve greater things and in so doing, take Microsoft South Africa to new heights," Serima says.
"Becoming an employer of choice should be a strategic imperative that every company works towards and it is vital to create a corporate culture in which people are engaged and motivated. This provides a stimulating, innovative and rewarding work environment, which in turn attracts the right people, which in turn drives critical business outcomes and competitive advantage," he adds.
"At Microsoft it’s even more than a strategic initiative, it is the very reason we are in business – to help people realise their potential," Serima says.
