Datatec has bought a US company, via its Westcon subsidiary, and acquired a further interest in a South American entity.
In the first announcement today, the group reveals that Westcon has acquired the assets of Cernet of America and its related Mexican company, Cernet Technologia en Telecommunicaciones for a maximum cash consideration of $4,65-million.
Cernet is a value-added distributor known for its strength in wireless networking, LAN/WAN, and security systems and has a customer base of over 300 resellers throughout the CALA (Caribbean and Latin America) region.
The company hasbeen serving customers in this region since its founding over 15 years ago, and its vendors include Motorola, Alcatel-Lucent, Foundry and Proxim Wireless.
Cernet reported EBITDA of approximately $1-million for the year ended 31 December 2006. The net assets of the business are approximately $1-million at acquisition. The business is being acquired on a debt/cash free basis.
The second announcement is that Datatec subsidiary Logicalis Group has acquired the outstanding 20,04% interest in Logicalis South America which it does not already own for a maximum consideration of $6,2-million.
Logicalis Group`s South American business provides integrated ICT solutions delivering secure network and communications infrastructure and services across South America with offices in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
