Toshiba shows hand-controlled DVD

Toshiba has unveiled a new DVD player that responds to hand signals, so users won't have to worry about a remote control or keyboard to manage the device.

The technology uses Toshiba's SpursEngine chip, which detects movement and turns it into commands that can be used to control the DVD player.
The new system was demonstrated at Tokyo electronics show, but the company hasn't set a date for when it will be commercially available.
