IDC reports that, for the second quarter of 2007, IBM was once again the number one tape product vendor in the world, based on branded tape revenue.

IBM captured 33,3% of the total branded tape revenue global market for the quarter.
This latest report from IDC entitled "IDC Worldwide Branded Tape 2Q'07 Vendor Analysis" – marks the 14th consecutive quarter that IBM has held the number-one position in worldwide branded total tape revenue.
In the five year history of IDC tracking quarterly branded tape revenue results, IBM is the only company to have fourteen consecutive quarters of worldwide braded tape revenue leadership.
"Addressing different storage access and retention requirements today is a significant challenge for IT administrators," says Cindy Grossman, Vice President, Tape Storage Solutions at IBM.
"Exploiting a tiered storage hierarchy that includes disk, tape and virtualisation can significantly address this challenge and it is clear from fourteen consecutive quarters of leadership that IBM's tape and archive offerings are addressing total cost of ownership, energy, data protection, data security, compliance and archive issues for customers."
