Lenovo cements third spot in PCs

Lenovo has secured its position as the world's third biggest PC manufacturer, nearly tripling its profits in its second quarter.

According to IDC, Lenovo's 8,2% market share pips Acer with 8,1% into fourth spot, although it still lags HP and Dell.
Lenovo's second quarter net earnings were $105,26-million, up 2,75 times on the $37,89-million for the corresponding period last year. Gross margin was 15,1%, up from 13%.
