Adhering to growing industry demand, Roan Systems has introduced Printronix's SLPA8000r encode, print and apply system to South African packaged goods companies.

The new SLPA8000r is also the first RFID-ready bar code printer applicator; underscoring both Roan Systems and Printronix' commitment to future proofing user investment.
Says Holger Steer, South Africa Area Sales Manager for Printronix, "This new development is inline with the Printronix strategy to provide a full range of RFID  and RFID ready print systems to the market place, ranging from the newly released T4M and SL4M mid-range thermal printers to the T56R and SL5R high-end thermal printers and SLPA8000 system. This provides the end user with access to the right system at the right place, integrating a common system platform and printer management solution for the Printnet enterprise."
Says Frikkie Koegelenberg, MD of Roan Systems, "A encode, print and apply system, for example, saves time as companies don't have to produce their labels offline and apply them afterwards. Furthermore, it mitigates possible misplaced or incorrectly printed labels, again saving time and unnecessary expenditure.
"Printronix is making tremendous strides in the local marketplace and with the introduction of the SLPA8000r we're again adhering to companies' needs while also offering them the option to seamlessly upgrade to RFID when ready."
The SLPA8000r is built on Printronix's MP2 Smart encoding technology and designed specifically to EPCglobal(TM) Gen 2 encoding specifications and offers users broad-ranging functionality: . Offers predictable and reliable RFID implementation with its Gen 2-certified hardware; and . Interoperable with the widest range of Gen 2 tags while offering continued support of EPC Class 0, 0+, 1 and Philips UCode 1.19 protocols.
Furthermore, the system has been developed specifically for high-speed production and distribution environments. Using "Next-Out" encoding, the high-speed printer applicator can verify, encode, print and apply "100% good" tags, at speeds in excess of 100 labels per minute.
It also provides a single system interface that consolidates both printer and applicator controls while providing messages on system status, tamp errors and so forth.
The SLPA8000r is an evolution of Printronix's SLPA7000r print-encode-and-apply system.
