New Pastel Payroll academy for Tshwane

Payroll software applications and services developer Softline Pastel Payroll, which trains up to 30 000 learners a year, is to open a new training academy in Lynnwood, Pretoria (Tshwane).

In addition to the 100 Authorised Training Centres, this academy is Pastel Payroll’s fourth formal training facility, complementing existing academies in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
“Our training academies offer a wide range of practical courses for our customers,” says Pastel Payroll Training Divisional Head Joe Ferreira. “The scope of training extends from ‘getting started’ courses for beginners to high level specialist programmes for the more experienced.”
Pastel Payroll offers a Pastel Payroll Certified Administrator (PCA) programme to learners who complete the company’s five one-day payroll training courses within a six-month period and pass the subsequent examination.
“By completing our PCA programme the learner acquires all the knowledge and skills necessary to process a company payroll effectively and efficiently, while ensuring that the business benefits by optimising the return on its software investment,” adds Ferreira.
Pastel Payroll is the only payroll software provider that offers an internationally recognised payroll professional designation. Ferreira says that by completing the PCA programme, a payroll administrator is not only recognised as a specialist in the payroll field but can also attain internationally recognised accreditation with the ICB (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) which aligns individual PCAs with a professional body and permits them to use the designation MICB(SA)(Payroll).
The Lynnwood training facility is fully equipped with computers for each individual learner in the two training rooms which accommodate 16 and 18 learners respectively. Ferreira says the academy is also suitable for strategic planning or board meetings and can be hired out. Facilities include data projectors, white boards and markers, catering, refreshments, dining areas and the services of a function co-ordinator.
The Lynnwood training academy will also serve as a distribution centre for payroll software and pre-printed, confidential stationery such as payslips and IRP5s.
Pastel Payroll offers a host of value-added services to customers over and above training. These services include workshops, seminars, free telephonic and e-mail support, on-site consultations, payroll outsourcing, placements and recruitment, all with the objective of helping clients take their businesses beyond payroll.
