Sophos has announced a new edition of its Security Suite for small businesses, version 2.5, which provides all-in-one protection against hackers, viruses, spyware and spam.
Sophos Security Suite SBE 2.5 combines anti-virus, firewall and e-mail security to reduce the cost of protecting Windows and Mac computers, laptops and Microsoft Exchange e-mail servers.
The Security Suite comprises Sophos Control Center, Sophos Anti-Virus 7, Sophos Client Firewall 1.5 and Sophos PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange 3.0 (PME 3.0).
PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange 3.0 helps small businesses manage e-mail security and accidental data leakage via e-mail. It scans e-mail for malware, spam, suspicious attachments and offensive language, while also ensuring e-mail content adheres to company policies.
Its new data leakage prevention (DLP) functionality helps to monitor internal and outbound e-mail communications for customer or financial data.
“A recent Sophos survey of 200 firms found that 70% were worried about sensitive information being leaked in this way, but, in the past, small businesses have struggled to find the resources to manage this problem effectively,” says Brett Myroff, CEO of master Sophos distributor, NetXactics.
Sophos PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange 3.0 also adds support for Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Active Directory integration, as well as featuring a redesigned user interface for simplified management.
Key features of Security Suite SBE 2.5 include:
* Protection against known and unknown viruses, spyware and adware;
* Locking out hackers with a client firewall (including support for Windows Vista);
* Defending Microsoft Exchange servers from malware, spam and phishing attacks (including support for Exchange 2007);
* Protecting Windows and Mac desktops, laptops and file servers (including support for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard);
* Automatically updating against the latest security threats; and
* Easy installation.
The Security Suite is backed up with rapid automatic updates direct from SophosLabs requiring no user intervention. “Small businesses can benefit from up-to-date protection, with hourly updates, that do not impact network resources,” Myroff says. Sophos also includes unlimited 24/7 telephone, e-mail and online technical support.
Myroff adds that smaller organisations face a particularly unique security challenge in that they are vulnerable to the same threats as enterprise companies, yet have smaller budgets and fewer resources to protect themselves.
“These businesses need a cost-effective, simple-to-use product that can automatically manage and update itself, with the minimum of interaction. Sophos Security Suite SBE 2.5 is designed specifically to meet that need, while providing industrial-strength protection.”
