Giles Calenborne has been appointed as the new GM: branded products at Sithabile Technology group, where he will grow the brands, develop channel structures and further expand the organisation's market share. The brands in his portfolio are Quantum, XioTech, QLogic, Tripp-Lite and Seagate Data Recovery Services.

Calenborne recently returned to South Africa from the UK after a successful career with Microsoft. He has been with Microsoft for almost 10 years, starting in 1998 in Retail Account Management and growing to the position of Specialist Manager – Software Asset Management, Security and Microsoft Business Solutions in the UK. Throughout his career, he has focused extensively on channel business, and has developed a unique insight into the requirements and challenges of the IT channel.
“We are really thrilled to be able to persuade Giles to return to South Africa to join Sithabile Technology Group, particularly in light of the current brain-drain,” says Jerry Mashinini, CEO of Sithabile Technology Group.
“His international exposure and experience will expose us to industry-leading methodologies and concepts and we are confident that he will make a huge impact on all aspects of our business. His reputation for achieving and exceeding targets precedes him and we have every confidence in his ability to grow our market presence.”
Calenborne adds: “I am delighted to be returning to South Africa. I have missed the country and the opportunity to join a black-owned company and to make a positive contribution was just the incentive I needed to come home.
"I believe that the Sithabile Technology Group has a tremendous future, particularly as they have aligned with quality brands and they have established a reputable market position. I am really looking forward to taking on the challenges of my new position.”
