The makers of the board game Scrabble may try to get the free Facebook application Scrabulous taken off the site, claiming that it is simply an online version of their copyrighted and trademarked game.
Scrabulous is one of the 10 most popular applications on Facebook and boasts more than 600 000 active users every day.
Hasbro, which owns Scrabble, is trying to work with four different organisations involved in the development, hosting and marketing of the free online game, attempting to find a solution.
Failing an amicable solution being reached, it will file suit to have the site shut down.
Scabulous users want the site to remain live, particularly enjoying the fact that it's free.
