The Huge Group has announced that Steve Tredoux, a former MTN executive who held the position of General Manager: sales, will join the Huge Board. Tredoux will fill an executive roll at the Huge Group which is believed to be linked to the recently-concluded agreement with iTalk.
James Herbst, financial director at the Huge Group, says: “Steve brings experience of the whole South African cell phone industry with him. He will also bring an invaluable operational strength to the team that we are building.”
Tredoux joined MTN as national sales manager in mid-1995, just as the giant network operator was finding its feet. His appointment as the one hundred and third employee came at time when MTN’s only route to market was via 14 service providers. Later, MTN purchased M-Tel, which was renamed MTN SP, and there was significant consolidation of service providers. Tredoux moved to MTN SP where he managed all sales channels before specialising on consumer sales and routes to market.
Today MTN employs more than 3 500 people.
"I am really excited about joining the Huge Group at this time," says Tredoux. "The telecommunications landscape is changing and opportunities are every where, but not everybody is in a position to address them."
