Internet banking takes to the skies

Absa has joined hands with domestic airline 1time to launch an in-flight banking service on selected flights departing from Johannesburg and Cape Town. This will give passengers the ability to do their banking during what is often considered as lost and wasted time.

Absa will initially test the customers’ responses to this new value adding service over a three-week period with an Absa personal banker serving customers on board the airline. These personal bankers will discuss with customers about how Absa can best serve their financial needs, complete applications and deal with enquiries.
“This first to market initiative is testament to our commitment to making banking more convenient and accessible for our customers.  In order to deliver on our promise of Full Value Banking, which includes convenience, choice, affordability and security, it is important that we are innovative and bold in our attempts to deliver exceptional customer experiences”, says
Venete Klein, executive director for Absa Retail Bank, says: " After the three-week testing period we will weigh up the uptake of this service and what our customers’ views are on this initiative and proceed accordingly.
