Mobile computing and communications is proving to be one of the fastest-growing and pervasive media of all time. Companies at the forefront of seeing opportunities and creating applications that address this burgeoning market were honoured at the 13th Annual GSMA Global Mobile Awards in Barcelona last night. 

Rob Conway, CEO of the GSMA, told the audience: "Each year as the influence of mobile communications spreads further to enhance more and more aspects of peoples' lives, the scope of the Awards become greater, and the competition becomes more intense as a result.
"Because the mobile world is such an amazing universe of opportunities, its gravitational forces are pulling other industries into its realm-internet, finance, advertising, music and film."
The award for best mobile game was shared between Cellufun for its Call of the Pharaoh and Glu Mobile for My Hangman.
Best Mobile Music Service was awared to Omnifone for MusicStation.
Best Mobile Video Service went to mywaves for its mywaves product.
BuzzCity's my received the award for Best Mobile Social Networking Service.
Best Mobile Infotainment Portal for News or Entertainment was awared to Yahoo! Connected Life for its Yahoo! Go for Mobile 2.0 application.
Microsoft won the award for Best Mobile Enterprise Product or Service for Windows Mobile 6.
Best Mobile Messaging Service award went to Seven for System Seven 7.0.
Sony Ericsson's W910 Walkman Phone shared the award for Best Mobile Handset or Device with 3UK's 3 Skypephone.
The Best Broadcast Commercial was given to the M-PESA ‘Send Money Home’ campaign by Safaricom.
Crossmedia Avenue won the Best Mobile Advertising award for AMF Pension – the MMS campaign.
Best Use of Mobile for Social & Economic Development award went to Grameenphone for CellBazaar.
RAD Data Communications won Best Network Quality Initiative award for its LA-130 Cell Gateway – Cost-Effective HSPA Backhaul.
The Best Service Delivery Platform was given to Aepona for the Aepona Telecom Web Services Platform.
mChek on Airtel – Mobile Payments Service from Bharti Airtel scooped the award for Best Billing and Customer Care Solution
The Best Roaming Product or Service was Syniverse Technologies' Syniverse Datanet.
The GSM Association Chairman's Award was given to Sunil Bharti Mittal, founder, chairman & group CEO of Bharti Enterprise.
