Paul van der Merwe, consulting manager at enterprise architecture specialist Real IRM, is to be the guest speaker at the monthly Enterprise Architecture Forum to be held in three national centres this month.

Van der Merwe will present on The Open Group's IT Architect Certification (ITAC) programme, and what it means to local IT architects.
The ITAC programme is the premier global certification programme for certifying skills and experience in the enterprise IT architecture community. Based on the proven best practices in the industry, it sets an independent, industry-wide standard for IT architects and creates a foundation for trust between suppliers and customers.
"The Open Group developed and launched ITAC in response to the growing demand for IT architects with a proven track record of success," says Van der Merwe. "The programme validates architects' skills, experience and success in architecting solutions across the whole lifecycle. More than 2 000 IT architects have been certified globally, and now South African IT architects will get a chance to join this global group of professionals."
ITAC has been endorsed globally by leading organisations such as IBM, Capgemini, HP, Deutsche Post, Rolls-Royce and Vodafone. As the local representative of The Open Group, Real IRM will be running the certification programme in South Africa.
During the Forum, Van der Merwe will provide an overview of the programme, and, in Johannesburg, facilitate a telephonic Q&A session with James de Raeve, VP: Certification of The Open Group.
"ITAC ensures that practising IT architects have an internationally recognised qualification that attests to their knowledge and experience as an IT architect," adds Van der Merwe. "ITAC complements our TOGAF training and certification, in terms of which we certify IT architects in terms of understanding the The Open Group's Architecture Framework.
"Locally and internationally, we have certified close on 300 architecture professionals, and we expect similar take-up of our ITAC programme."
