Sentech is hitting back at media reports that cast doubts on the company's long-term future and hopes to set the record straight within  the next few days.

The company is preparing a detailed response to recent media comments by an unnamed Treasury official regarding future funding of the company and a reported lack of confidence in the management team.

The company will also clarify any confusion arising from references to Sentech in the budget vote for the Department of Communications (Vote 24) in which the phasing out of business products is stated as fact.
Dr Sebiletso Mokone-Matabane, Sentech CEO, said that key stakeholders, including government, would have to be consulted before the company could respond in detail.
"Suffice to say that the management team is deeply concerned about the impact of these statements on staff morale and customer confidence and is determined to set the record straight.
"The long term future of the company is a lot more positive than appears from what is currently in the public domain. A consolidated and comprehensive response is being prepared for release within the next seven to 10 days."
