Xerox is accelerating office productivity with the release of the WorkCentre 5600 series of enhanced multifunction systems that can leverage software applications to make work easier. The seven black-and-white multifunction systems are Xerox's newest and fastest products that print, copy, scan and fax while leveraging the company's Extensible Interface Platform (EIP).
EIP is based on Web standards that allow software developers to quickly and easily create applications tailored to address specific business challenges. People can access document management software that is personalised to meet their needs from the touch screen on the device.
"The new Xerox WorkCentre systems combined with EIP represent a new era for the multifunction system as they break the perception that office MFPs are just pieces of hardware," says Warren Lock, product manager: office systems group at Bytes Document Solutions, sole authorised distributor of Xerox products and solutions to 24 African countries.
"With their easy set-up and seamless administration, these systems adapt to the way you work – instead of the other way around."
The WorkCentre 5600 series print and copy at speeds of 32 ppm to 87 ppm and have total paper capacity of up to 8 700 sheets, enabling these systems to quickly handle anything from general office documents to high-volume print jobs.
Office workers can also store frequently printed documents, such as forms or templates, on the device and modify the settings before printing, which eliminates trips back and forth from computer to MFP.
The WorkCentre 5600 series also offers expanded finishing options for models that operate at 55 ppm and above, including C- and Z-folding and post-process sheet insertion.
Scan-enabled models can create searchable PDF and XPS files, with models 65 ppm and above offering colour scanning.
The products are equipped with Xerox Standard Accounting, free software that enables businesses to track usage, set limits for users and manage costs.
With the systems' Smart Controller advanced design, they deliver the fastest effective network print speed in the industry, and Xerox's exclusive Print Around feature ensures no printing bottlenecks as the MFPs can hold a job needing certain resources and print the next job in the queue.
Buyers Laboratory , an independent office products test laboratory and business consumer advocate, awarded the WorkCentre 5645 and 5665 a five out of five star rating for their excellent print productivity and image quality, as well as a very good overall ease of use.
IDC's results for mono MFP year to date September 2007 in South Africa also reveal that Xerox is the 45-69 ppm mono MFP leader with a majority 29,8% share of the market.
"Xerox continually raises the benchmark in innovation, enabling the company to expand its market share and ensure that it remains a global leading printer producer offering superior products," says Lock.
