Gartner is to launch a Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) annual Enterprise Networking & Communications Summit. The inaugural conference will be co-located with the company's established Wireless & Mobile Summit 2008 at the Royal Lancaster hotel, London, on 23-24 April 2008.

"The EMEA Enterprise Networking & Communications Summit builds on the success of the Enterprise Networking & Communications Summit already established in the US, which recently took place in December and attracted more than 350 delegates," says Alister Christopher, senior vice-president worldwide events at Gartner.
"Explosive growth across all areas of networking and communications creates challenges for managing expenses, security and access," says Steve Blood, research vice-president at Gartner. "Enterprise networking and communications forms a key challenge for modern IT executives to innovatively support the business. The Enterprise Networking & Communications Summit will examine how organisations can accelerate business processes and increase agility through optimised communications."
Blood added: ³The conference will provide the latest strategic insights, operational examples, and technological advice to drive cost-effective innovation, plan and capitalise on investment in new architecture and applications.  The focus for chief information officers (CIOs) is shifting from simply saving costs to supporting business growth and efficiency while still keeping a grip on outlay."
The two summits offer five tracks:
* Enterprise Networking & Communications Summit: Enterprise network technology, architecture and sourcing; and communications and applications for a more responsive business;
* Wireless & Mobile Summit: Evolving the IT infrastructure to access the potential of mobile and wireless; transforming the business and achieving benefits through mobility; and rethinking the organisation: the impact of disruptive technologies and people power.
In more than 80 sessions, Gartner analysts will explore:
* Developments in key areas including internet protocol (IP) telephony, unified communications, wireless access, application acceleration, wireless area network (WAN) optimisation and network security.
* The overall enterprise strategy that will provide the reliability, application availability, architectural flexibility, and guaranteed benefits to productivity.
* Ways for the world's 2,5-billion mobile subscribers to engage in more-sophisticated business activities.
* Integrating innovative infrastructure with the demands of efficient operation.
In addition, Gartner thought leadership will be complemented by panel discussions, analyst one-on-ones and end-user case studies including ABN Amro, AstraZeneca, Cambridge County Council, European Space Agency, E.ON UK, Go-Ahead Group, Ministry of Defense (The Netherlands), Norwegian National Rail Administration, Pearson and Volvo.
